Natural Ways To Whiten Teeth
Finding natural ways to whiten your teeth is the healthiest way to go about keeping a bright, healthy smile. There is no reason to use commercially made whitening products that contain multiple chemicals when you can get the same results using common ingredients that aren’t harmful and that don’t have the possibility of carrying any side effects.
Use Baking Soda as a Stain Remover
Baking soda is used for a lot of things around the house, whitening teeth is just another one of them. Baking soda is very popular because it works so well to whiten and clean teeth. Using baking soda as a whitener for your teeth is easy. Simply make a “paste” with the baking soda, using a little water. Then brush your teeth with it just as you would with ordinary toothpaste. You may choose to let the baking soda sit on your teeth for a little while before rinsing your mouth, but it isn’t necessary in order to start seeing results.
Use Hydrogen Peroxide for Pearly Whites
This method is more like using a mouth wash than a toothpaste but it’s considered to be as effective when it comes to whitening stains on your teeth as baking soda is. It also works well to keep the bad breath away and germs at bay. Overall it cleans, disinfects and whitens the teeth all at once and naturally at that. Simply mix together one part peroxide to one part water then swish it in your mouth for up to 30 seconds and spit it out, then rinse.
Variations
You can get creative and put your own personal spin on things to make both of these natural ways to whiten teeth more appealing. There are numerous variations to homemade recipes using these ingredients, and there’s no doubt that you will soon probably come up with your own. While you are experimenting, consider using one or more of the following suggestions:
- Use Lemons
As long as you don’t use the juice of lemons on a daily basis, mixing it with baking soda to create a citrus toothpaste works really well. It tastes good and the lemon juice helps to better fight off tough stains from things like coffee, tea, wine and cigarettes.
- Treat Yourself to Strawberries
The malic acid found in strawberries acts as a natural whitener so it only seems natural to incorporate it into a baking soda toothpaste. Mix a crushed, ripe strawberry with a little baking soda to make a fruity paste that will wipe away stains in no time.
- Get Minty
Mint helps keep your breath fresh so it goes well with baking soda. You can easily make a minty toothpaste by mixing a tablespoon of baking soda with half a teaspoon of water that has been boiled with fresh mint leaves. The mint water can be mixed with peroxide to make a minty mouthwash too.
